1. Know your device

Most vape pens have the same components, with slight variations.

* Mouthpiece: it is attached to the heating chamber and is located on one end with a hole or holes to put your mouth on to draw in the vapor.

Simply put- A vape pen works by providing power to the atomizer (heating chamber) which then heats the chosen product until a vapor is produced and released through the mouthpiece.

2. Accessorize

As with any tool, there are certain accessories that are needed. There are pre-filled cartridges that just require easy installation by screwing and unscrewing them onto the device. If you choose to use wax, you will need an airtight container to store it in and a small metal scoop (dabber) to scoop it up and place it in the heating chamber.

3. Know your concentrates

Concentrates come in a few different forms. One is a disposable pre-filled oil cartridge. There are also refillable oil cartridges that you can fill yourself. Other concentrates are loaded directly into the device and are referred to as wax, budder and sugar- depending on their appearance and consistency.

4. Loading correctly

Loading your chamber is as simple as using the metal tool (dabber) to scoop up the product and place into the chamber. Don’t try to use your fingers, it will stick to them and your product can lose potency. If you are using cartridges, simply screw it into the device.

5. Using the button

Most vape pens have a button that you push to start the heating process. The advantage of having a button is it offers more control over the temperature. Most vape pens with buttons require you to click 5 times to turn the device on or off, and 3 clicks to control the temperature. To take a drag, after the device has been turned on, simply hold down the button while inhaling. Some vape pens don’t have a button. You simply draw on it and it releases vapor. This is called “auto draw”.

6. Proper maintenance and storage

Read the instructions that come with your newly purchased device. Always keep your device clean and stored properly. If you travel with your vape pen, consider purchasing an air-tight case. Many cases have room for not only your device but your accessories as well. Also you might want to purchase a spare battery that is kept charged so you won’t ever run out of power.
